My Story
Shahryar is a serial entrepreneur who has spent the last 25 years travelling the world, establishing new ventures, promoting US companies across several continents and in the process developing a profound global Rolodex of relationships.
He has worked with many Corporations, Governments & Heads of State across the globe bringing new business opportunities to underdeveloped markets.
A proven private equity investor with over 15 years of experience in the sector, Shahryar is currently focusing on making investments in the renewable energy, cryptocurrency/blockchain, healthcare and biotech sectors.
Shahryar is currently Co-Founder & Chief Carbon Officer of Argali Carbon Corporation a Benefit Corporation focused on carbon offset development. Shahryar is also Co-Founder and General Partner of Argali Climate Fund.
He was previously the Managing Partner & Head of Diabetes Platform for Diomics Corporation, a biotech company based in San Diego, that develops gap technologies for markets where they can make a humanitarian difference based on immediate market access.
Previously, Shahryar was a Partner of Rose Capital, a leading legal cannabis private equity fund with a focus n driving value creation initiatives throughout the portfolio companies.
He also helped lead Investor Relations and Fundraising on behalf of Rose Capital, sourced deals, and developed new strategic initiatives.
Previous to joining Rose Capital, Shahryar spent 8 years as an Operating Partner of Pegasus Capital Advisors, a U.S. Middle Market private equity firm that managed $1.8 billion in assets with a focus on sustainability and health/wellness.
He has served on the boards of: Six Senses Hotels Resorts & Spas, GYRO HSR and ZeroBase Energy.
Before that, Shahryar was Co-Founder and Managing Partner of OC Global Partners, an advisory firm specializing in business development and operations consulting services focused on the Middle East, China, and the North American markets. Through his leadership at OC he has advised some of the largest private equity firms in the U.S. and China.
Shahryar graduated from NYU’s Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Information Systems & International Business. Shahryar currently serves on the board of Argali Carbon Corporation, Intelligent Earth Holdings & Todd English Enterprises.
Personal Background
Shahryar was born in June 18, 1979 in Livington, NJ after his family was forced to leave Iran in 1979 due to the Iranian Revolution.
He is the son of General Gholam Ali Oveissi, Commander In Chief of the Shah of Iran’s Imperial Army and Sharareh Sarmad Oveissi.
Shahryar’s family left The United States in 1980 and moved to Paris, France where his father was leading the main counter revolutionary opposition movement for the Shah of Iran’s son.
In 1984, he and his families lives were forever changed as ruthless assassins sent by The Iranian Government assassinated his father and uncle on February 7th, 1984 in Rue de Passy in Paris, France.
Shortly thereafter, the family moved back to The United States and settled in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Shahryar had as wonderful a childhood as was possible in large part due to his amazing mother and her steadfast dedication and love.
He attended the prestigious Greenwich Country Day School from Kindergarten through 9th grade and went on to high school at the renowned Brunswick School.
At Brunswick School, he was nominated as Vice President of the school his junior year and President of the school during his senior year.
He has continued to serve both schools through various positions. Shahryar was elected as a Trustee of The Greenwich Country Day School in 2012 and served on the board for 9 years and its executive committee for 3.
Personal Life
What is most important to me, and drives me each day, is striving for greatness for my family. I am blessed to have three beautiful children and a loving wife who is my rock and foundation. After losing my father at an early age, my greatest dream and goal has been to be a great father. I am so grateful for my three children Olympia, Gigi, and Sam. There is no greater gift in life than family and being a father has fulfilled me more than any business deal or other career achievement. I live for my kids and family … End of story….
